Responsibility on both sides
Safe gambling rests on two pillars. The operator creates the conditions, and the player watches how their gambling develops so as to notice the first difficulties in time. The point of both is for play to remain a conscious and controlled activity, for the risk of excessive gambling to be as small as possible and for no addiction to arise.
The operator's duties are set out in Sections 13 to 16 of Act No. 186/2016 Coll. Every operator, EVONA ELECTRONIC, spol. s r.o. included, must offer players limits on money and time, clear information about risks and self-exclusion, and measures protecting minors.
How the problem shows
Trouble with gambling does not usually come overnight. It often starts with money: an exceeded budget, loans for gambling and attempts to win back what was lost, which is chasing losses. Then comes escalation, when there is a need to play more often and for higher amounts.
After that, gambling starts to leak into everyday life. Work, studies or family get put off, play continues despite debts and quarrels, and it is hidden from loved ones. When play is not possible, restlessness, irritability or anxiety appear, and health, both mental and physical, deteriorates.
If you see these signs in yourself or in someone close to you, reach for the prevention tools or seek out professionals.
Limits and breaks in your account
In their account, every registered BetX player has a set of tools that the operator offers under Sections 15 to 16 of Act No. 186/2016 Coll.
Deposits
You decide how much you may send to your gaming account per day, week or month. Until the period has passed, the system will not accept a deposit above that amount.
Stakes and losses
A ceiling can also be put on the total volume of stakes or on the net loss for a chosen period. Once it is reached, no further bets or play are possible.
Time and reality check
A time limit sets how much time per day or week you devote to gambling. A reality check reminds you at regular intervals how long you have already been playing.
Time-out
A pause lasting 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days during which you cannot log in to the account and play is impossible. When it ends, the account is reactivated.
You set, lower and cancel a limit directly in the account. Raising it is subject to a cooling-off period that lasts at least 24 hours.
Panic button
Sometimes you need to stop right away. The panic button in the user interface removes you from all gambling for 48 hours with a single press: the system automatically excludes you from all of the operator's online platforms and at the same time offers to file a request for an entry in the Register of Excluded Persons (RVO).
Any registered player can use the button. Operators of online games and gaming halls have had to provide it since 1. 7. 2024 on the basis of Act No. 186/2016 Coll.
Self-exclusion
You can exclude yourself from play for a longer time or for good by making a request to the operator; this right is given to you by Section 16 and Section 16b of Act No. 186/2016 Coll. You file the request in the user account or through the gambling operator. The subsequent entry in the Register of Excluded Persons (RVO) applies across the board to all operators in the Czech Republic and can be deleted 1 year after the entry at the earliest.
The Register of Excluded Persons
The register is kept by the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic on the basis of Section 131 of Act No. 186/2016 Coll. People entered in it cannot play with any licensed operator in the Czech Republic.
A person gets into the register in one of two ways: either they ask for it themselves, or they are excluded directly by law, for example because of enforcement, insolvency proceedings or receiving certain benefits.
A request for an entry can be filed with the operator in the user account, confirmed after activating the panic button, sent to the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic by data box or submitted in person at a Czech POINT contact point.
The age limit of 18
Act No. 186/2016 Coll. sets an age limit of 18 for taking part in gambling and strictly forbids it to minors. The operator watches over compliance: it verifies a player's age and identity at registration, for example through BankID or another method, and checks them again when the player withdraws winnings.
Questions for self-reflection
The questions are based on the PGSI questionnaire (Problem Gambling Severity Index). Treat them as an aid for orientation; they do not replace a professional diagnosis.
- Do you play again to get out of a loss?
- Do you often feel that it would be good to play less?
- Do you spend more on gambling than you intended?
- Have you had to borrow so that you could keep playing?
- Has a duty or a relationship lost out because of gambling?
- Do you reproach yourself for gambling?
- Has anyone around you said that your gambling is a problem?
If you answered yes to more than one question, we recommend using the prevention tools or contacting professionals.
